Go to Settings → Manage Friends. The Search tab finds people by name or email, and the Contacts tab finds friends from your phone's contacts. People you may know appear on the Friends tab. You can also share your invite link or QR code from Settings → Invite Friends.
Open Friends → Contacts (or tap Find your friends during onboarding) and allow access to your contacts after reading the notice. The app checks which of your contacts have a Drinks account, and you can send friend requests from the list.
With your permission, the app sends the email addresses and phone numbers from your address book to our servers to see which belong to Drinks accounts. Only confirmed accounts that allow being found match, and blocked users never do.
If Settings → Privacy → Tell me when contacts join is on, we keep a one-way hash (HMAC-SHA256) of those numbers and emails, not the contacts or their names, only to alert you once when one of them joins. Turning it off deletes the hashes immediately; deleting your account does too.
It's optional. Adding a phone number lets friends who have it in their contacts find you. It's never shown on your profile, and only US and German numbers are supported for now. Add it in Edit Profile and confirm it with a texted code.
To remove it, go to Edit Profile → Phone number → Remove.
Go to Settings → Privacy. Turn off Let people find me from their contacts so nobody can find you by email or phone, and you're left out of "contact joined" alerts sent to others. Turn off Show me in People you may know to stop appearing in other people's suggestions.
Suggestions on the Friends tab come from mutual friends, shared outings, being tagged together, and checking in at the same places around the same time (only as a boost). Each shows a short reason, like "4 mutual friends".
Dismiss a suggestion and it won't come back. To stop appearing in others' suggestions, turn off Settings → Privacy → Show me in People you may know.
Check that it's a US number, since other countries aren't supported yet. Wait a minute, then tap Resend (available after 30 seconds). Make sure your carrier isn't blocking short codes. On Android, the one-tap code needs you to tap Allow on the message prompt, or you can type the code in.
The Feed tab has three views: My Feed shows your friends' check-ins, photos, and activity; Discover shows what people nearby are checking in to; and Leaderboard shows who's earning the most points.
An Active Challenges strip sits on top — hide it with Settings → Appearance → Show Challenges on Feed.
Only your friends, and only if you turn it on. Settings → Share Location with Friends is off by default; when it's on, your friends can see you on their map, and you can switch it off any time. To hide friends from your own map, turn off Show Friends on Map.
Who sees your check-ins is a separate setting: Default Check-in Privacy.
Open the person's profile, tap the ⋮ button, and choose Block User, Mute User or Report Profile. Blocked users can't interact with you and you won't see their content; muting just hides their posts and notifications.
Manage everyone you've blocked or muted under Account → Blocked & Muted Users.
